AUDITIONS & INTERVIEWS

September 22-23, 2021

September 22-23: 12pm - 7pm Central (1pm-8pm Eastern), by appointment

Award-winning Lebanese American poet, theatre director, and cultural organizer Andrea Assaf will select 11 artists and community collaborators for the upcoming November production of 11Reflections: San Antonio at The Carver Community Cultural Center. Will YOU be one of them?

11Reflections: San Antonio is envisioned as a  large-scale, city-specific, devised creation, scheduled to open at The  Carver on November 20, 2021. It builds on, and will evolve from, Andrea  Assaf's previous work, Eleven Reflections on September, a poetry and multi-media performance on Middle Eastern American  experience in the post-9/11 era. But this time, San Antonio voices--YOUR VOICES--will be at the center. This project is part Art2Action's new  initiative, Eleven Reflections on the Nation, reflecting on the 20th anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11, and the wars and policies that followed. (Supported, in part, by the Doris Duke Foundation for  Islamic Art, Building Bridges program) Visit our blog to read the full  Call for San Antonio Artists & MENA Community Collaborators!

This opportunity is open to all artists, creatives, and community members who have a story to share. This may include actors, poets, movers, performers, musicians, designers, video/multimedia artists, or any creative person who wants to collaborate on an interdisciplinary, devised theatre project. This may also include community members who don't identify as artists, but who have a post-9/11 story to share, and want their voices to be heard.

Interested in participating? Here's how:

1) REGISTER HERE

2) Schedule a 30-minute interview or audition in an available time slot HERE. If you are a performer, please prepare a short audition piece suitable for Zoom. If you are a designer, media artist, writer, or community member who wants to share a story, we'll just talk in an interview format.

3) If you are an artist who would like us to review your creative work in advance of the audition/interview, or to submit a video, written, or visual sample for consideration--or, if you already have a post-9/11 story or piece you'd like us to consider--please use this form share your work/story prior to your interview appointment, here: CALL FOR VIDEOS & CREATIVE SUBMISSIONS

4) Stay tuned for call-backs and next steps! If you're advanced to the final selection, we'll be in touch to invite you to a group session.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
