Reflection Session #2: Aftermath

Featuring Guest Artist S.T. Shimi

Tuesday, October 13, 2020

6-7:30pm Central / 7-8:30pm Eastern

In September 2020, Art2Action launched a year-long series of "Reflection Sessions" on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, leading up to the 20th Anniversary of 9/11. Presented by The Carver Community Cultural Center, in conjunction with our 2021 community-engaged theatre project "Eleven Reflections: San Antonio," the online Reflection Sessions are live, interactive, art-based, participatory events reflecting on our nation in the post-9/11 era. Each session will be grounded in a performance excerpt from Eleven Reflections on September, by Andrea Assaf, with special guest artists, creative prompts, and facilitated dialogue.

Our second Reflection Session, on October 13th, will feature the second poem in the Eleven Reflections series, September 17th by Lebanese American theatre artist Andrea Assaf – in conversation with special guest S.T. Shimi. Writer and Performance Artist S.T. Shimi will share an excerpt of her original work, On the Island, about the Guantanamo Bay Detention Camp. Join us for a special evening of powerful work and creative conversation, and learn more about how you can get involved with "Eleven Reflections: San Antonio."

Save the Dates for full "Reflection Sessions" series:

2nd Tuesday of each month, through September 2021

6-7:30pm Central / 7-8:30pm Eastern

Sneak Preview: Our November 10th guest will be Iraq War Veteran and Executive Director of Veterans for Peace, Garett Reppenhagen.
