Veterans Community Open Mic ONLINE!

ONLINE EDITION, in honor of the Movement for Black Lives

Because Art2Action believes in protecting each other by limiting in-person contact during the COVID-19 pandemic, we are now hosting the Open Mic online. The good news is, you can join from anywhere! Local, national, and international participants are welcome. 

Art2Action presents the monthly Veterans Community Open Mic as a creative space for Veterans, families, community members, caregivers, allies, and Artists of all kinds. In light of events in the past weeks and the ongoing struggle for justice, the June 2020 edition is dedicated to uplifting and supporting the voices of African American and Black veterans and artists who wish to speak and share their creative work. Art2Action stands in solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives, and we believe that we can all support veterans, and support Black communities at the same time. We believe that in this diverse country, it is patriotic to affirm that #BlackLivesMatter,  and to raise our voices when we see injustice. As always, the Open Mic is a community-building event, a space where all people are welcome regardless of identity, a space where we can bring our full selves, listen, share, and grow together. One of the most important things we can do right now is to show up for each other, and listen. 

Join co-hosts Andrea Assaf & J-9, with DJ Cotton for a special evening of creativity & community-building. Open Mic sign-up spots are up to 5 minutes each, in any genre or creative form.  

ALL ARTISTS, VETERANS, FAMILY MEMBERS, FRIENDS & SUPPORTERS ARE WELCOME 

First time on the mic? Seasoned poet, musician or storyteller? Just want to listen? No problem! Your level of involvement is what you want it to be, no pressure! You can sign-up to share, or just listen in.
