Tomorrow Will Be Sunday, part of the Migration Play Cycle, is a bold, inventive play exploring why we move—and the costs of survival. Blending theatrical storytelling with themes of migration and global economics, it challenges us to reconsider human value by examining what we choose to value. From border towns to heartland supermarkets, the play infuses emotion and theatricality into data, painting a sweeping vision of a world in motion and our daily impact on it.

Tomorrow Will Be Sunday is conceived and written by A2A commissioned artist and internationally acclaimed playwright Heather Raffo, known for her poetic, community-driven works addressing urgent contemporary issues. Born in the Midwest to an Iraqi immigrant father, Raffo’s creations span military communities, migrant populations, and major cultural institutions—from the Arab American National Museum in Detroit to The Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.

Part of Raffo’s larger MIGRATION PLAY CYCLE developed across multiple cities, the San Antonio iteration of Tomorrow Will Be Sunday premieres at The Carver with a unique season crafted specifically for and with San Antonio communities. Featuring live music and a cast of local and international artists: Marisela Barrera, Anna De Luna, Solstíz Ibarra-Campos, Jess Mahogany, Heather Raffo, Cassandra L. Small, and musician Zafer Tawil

Following performances, audience members are invited to have a voice at The Table, a community meal and facilitated dialogue engaging the central themes of the play, including movement, survival, and belonging.

The Migration Play Cycle by Heather Raffo is a National Performance Network (NPN) Creation & Development Fund project co-commissioned by the Arab American National Museum, Art2Action, Carver Community Cultural Center, and NPN (more info: www.npnweb.org). This presentation of TOMORROW WILL BE SUNDAY, the San Antonio component of the Migration Play Cycle, is produced by Art2Action, Inc. “The Table” dialogues following performances are made possible by  additional support from Alternate ROOTS / Horizons Project. Previous commissions and development include: McCarter Theater and The Playwrights Center’s McKnight National Residency, Chautauqua Theater and Ojai Playwrights Conference; the Arab American National Museum and the Association of Performing Arts Professionals (APAP) ArtsForward. Heather Raffo is also a Creative Capital recipient for The Migration Play Cycle: A New Theatrical Platform.
