Art2Action is excited to announce the launch of a new community co-created theatre work, Eleven Reflections: San Antonio, commissioned and presented by The Carver Community Cultural Center. This mainstage, multimedia performance will be the culmination of a multi-year residency and partnership, facilitated and directed by Art2Action's founder, Andrea Assaf. The Carver’s presentation makes San Antonio the first city in a new national initiative, “Eleven Reflections on the Nation” (supported in part by the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art “Building Bridges” program), commemorating the 20th anniversary of the tragedy of 9/11/2001 and its aftermath.
The new project begins with a Call for San Antonio Artists & Creatives—performers, writers, musicians, creators in any genre—and Middle Eastern/North African (MENA), Muslim, or any community members who have a post-9/11 story to share. Interested artists and community members are invited to participate in free online workshops in July & August...
Lead Artist Andrea Assaf will select eleven San Antonio-based collaborators to work with her through the Fall, online and during in-person residencies. Participating artists and community members will co-create and rehearse the all-new, city-specific, multimedia theatre production, Eleven Reflections: San Antonio. The resulting production will be presented by the Carver on November 20, 2021, as a world premiere.
