Andresia Moseley

Andresia Moseley, or “Real” as she is known in the poetry community, has more than a decade of  professional artistic  and theatrical experience.  A nationally recognized Spoken Word artist, she is a classically-trained triple-threat performer, actress and event host. She has been featured in over 200 shows in just the last 3 years.   In 2018, Andresia was the recipient of the National Performance Network’s Creation and Development Fund co-commissioned by Art2Action and ASU Gammage and supported by the Hillsborough Arts Council Artist Development Grant. In 2018 Andresia became a ASU Gammage Artist in Residence for the development of her first one woman show Five Black Women. Five Black Women had it’s first work in progress showing September 2018 inpartnership with ASU Gammage at the Kerr Cultural Center, Scottsdale, AZ. where the new work received rave reviews.

Andresia is currently on national tour as the lead character in Speed Killed My Cousin, by Linda Parris-Bailey and the Carpetbag Theatre (CBT), with her premiere performance at ASU Gammage in 2016.  Some select theatre credits in  2019 include: Swopera : A Spoken Word Opera  at the Ula Love  Doughty  Theatre,  Knoxville , TN.  Red Summer  at the Bijou Theatre, Knoxville TN.. Speed KIlled My Cousin  at the Hayti  Heritage Center,  Durham, NC.   Additional productions include: Dark Cowgirls and Prairie Queens  and Between a Ballad and a Blues, at the Clayton Center for the Arts , Maryville, TN.  2017-2018. Andresia was named the "Stand Out Actress" of the 2015 season in Tampa, FL for her role as the "Lady in Blue” in Ntozke Shange’s For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf  at The Space @ 2106 Main.  She was also named an “exceptional, stand out actress” for her role as Aphrodite in War Wives of Ithaca at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in 2013.

Some of Andresia’s recent accomplishments as a poet include being selected as a feature for the National Writer’s Resist campaign (2017), being featured on WFLA News Channel 8 for the Gasp! Festival of Artists (2016), and on the “Rhythm and Hues Show” A&E network (2015). She was a nominee for “Best Poet” in Tampa’s “Best of the Bay” Awards (2015) and was the guest facilitator for the Tampa Bay Poetry Workshop (2016, 2018). She is also a frequently featured poet on the 88.5 WWNF "Poetry Is" radio show, and she’s a member of the Tampa Bay Poetry Council.

In 2015, Andresia was honored to be a guest artist hosting the post-show dialogue for Eleven Reflections on September, by Andrea Assaf, at the historic La Mama theatre in New York City. She is a regular host for Art2Action’s programs, such as the monthly Veterans Community Open Mic, and their 2015 National Poetry Celebration. Additional hosting credits include the Open Mic Night with the Tampa Theatre Festival, and the Aids Foundation (AHF) National Poetry Slam.

Andresia is very proud of launching “The Spotlight Series,” her first self-produced performing arts showcase in the Tampa Bay, in which she cast, directed and hosted 10 diverse professional performing artists, including dance, music, spoken word and theatre. The Spotlight Series was first presented at the Dr. Carter Woodson African American Museum in St. Petersburg, in October 2015.

Andresia’s poem Fatherless was published in “A Collection of New Voices from Tampa Bay” in 2014.
